Leadership: I have been a director for most of my career. I managed 40 volunteers from the Huntington Beach Humane Society to produce a TV show called The Pet Place. I started this TV series, and a media nonprofit 501(c)3, to support 22 animal shelters and rescue groups in finding homes for homeless pets. I led fundraising efforts to produce 13 weeks of the show, by selling advertisements and developing relationships with private donors in the business community. I also organized a one-night telethon for the Long Beach Animal Shelter that earned $10,000 in three hours.
Serving as Director of the Villa Cucina Culinary Center's Cooking School, I hired, trained, and managed a team of 16 staff and built a high-end professional kitchen and cooking school from the ground up. Early in my career, I was a National Sales Account Manager for NEC America, in charge of training new sales executives and presenting products at large industry trade shows. I have held many other managerial positions as well, and will continue to further my education and pursue membership with the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership.
I'm an excellent public speaker and saleswoman. I have worked with Domestic Violence nonprofits to organize and promote fundraising galas and increase financial support. I helped Washington State University organize and host a fundraising gala at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. I worked the entire year before securing silent auction items and high-end bidding auction items, and at the one-night event we raised $180,000 in auction proceeds, ticket sales, sponsorships and donations.
As a Sales & Events Director for both Woodhouse Estates Winery and Sizzleworks Cooking School, I was very successful at cold-calling corporations and selling our team-building and private event services. I creatively developed new program ideas, sold them, and personally hosted the clients. I brought in Microsoft, Land O'Lakes, Whole Foods, U.S. Fire Marshals, Ameriprise Financial Services, and others. I also have a proven ability to establish win-win partnerships with organizations, and for increasing membership enrollment. Successful in retaining relationships with donors and foundations.
Early in my real estate career, I worked in residential real estate and assisted in investment and commercial properties. I became a manager and sales director of new sales developments. I assisted in processing loan applications, served as communication liaison between lender and clients. Composed a training manual for a company as a guide for sales training seminars, specializing in communication between full time personal in the field and business operations.
Using my simple working knowledge of Spanish, I have collaborated with several colleagues in the Latino community while fundraising with West Marin Senior Citizens, working at the Farmers' Market and Dance Palace.
I believe my diverse background and experience allows me to relate with the diverse members of the board, community and attract future major donors. My connection with people is a very “relatable” style.
